Hello there Saints! I am about to remove my crochet braids for the month of August this week. Needless to say this is my one and only long-term go to protective style! I have been amazed how well my hair does when I just leave it ALONE. I was not a believer in wearing protective styles long term until I found the right one for me. I will not snub protective styles anymore. Whatever protective style you choose to wear, Saints, wear it well and make sure to take care of your own hair too.
Do Not Neglect Your Own Hair
Whatever protective style you choose to wear, please make sure to take care of your own hair too. I have met several people who have a protective style (wig, weave, etc.) but neglect to still care for their hair and scalp. Not properly maintaining your hair and scalp with a protective style can lead to dandruff and even patchy hair loss. Keep your scalp clean and your hair moisturized while wearing protective styles. I personally moisturize my hair daily and cleanse my scalp weekly while in crochet braids. I oil my scalp with Jamaican black castor oil every other day as well.
You may not be able to see your own hair while in a protective styling but it does not mean it is not there. If you stay on top of caring for your hair while in a protective style, you will see amazing results. Keep you dedication to your own hair and scalp while in a protective style so there will not be a set back when your hopes are steps forward in your hair care journey.
I pray all is well with everyone this day and every day. If you have any questions or need help please leave a comment below. As always, stay near the cross because you never know who you may meet there. Blessings! :o)
In Christ's Love,

Hey CBC Lady,
ReplyDeleteThis is great advice! Your hair underneath the protective style is definitely the priority. In the end your scalp will thank you! How is your journey going? By the way, I love the look of your blog.

Hey Erickah! Thank you so much for stopping by. I still have some tweeking to do to my blog (...ehem..stretched photos) but it's almost there.
DeleteMy hair journey is going VERY well. I just clipped off the remaining heat damage after transitioning through it for a year. It's sooo nice having my curly coils back. I'm going to update all that good stuff soon once I get my blog situated. Thank you for asking. How is your hair journey going? Do tell. Blessings! :o)
